AICAN Digital Hub
Last updated: 12/03/2026
The AICAN Digital Hub is designed to be accessible, inclusive, and easy to use for everyone. The hub provides AI-supported training, videos, and easy-read guides, and has been co-produced with adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Accessibility and inclusive design are core principles built into every stage of the platform.
Our Accessibility Commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA standards, where possible and follow best practices for usability and inclusive design. Our goal is to ensure the hub can be used by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies such as:
- Screen readers
- Voice recognition software
- Screen magnifiers
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Alternative input devices
We want everyone to be able to learn, access resources, and engage with the training tools confidently and independently.
How We Support Accessibility
To make the Digital Hub accessible, we have implemented:
- Semantic, structured HTML to support screen readers and keyboard navigation
- High-contrast colour palettes and scalable text
- Alt text for images and descriptive labels for all interactive elements
- Keyboard-accessible navigation throughout the site
- Responsive design, ensuring the website works across a range of devices and screen sizes
- Clear and simple content, including easyread versions
- Accessible media, including captioned videos and adjustable playback controls
- AI tools designed with accessibility in mind, helping with learning support, simplified explanations, and navigation assistance
All features are tested with users, including people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
If you find any accessibility problems not listed on this page, please contact us so we can review and address them.
Use of AI and Accessibility
The Digital Hub includes AIpowered learning tools. These are designed to:
- Personalise training and support
- Simplify complex information
- Assist users with reading, understanding, and navigating the site
- Enhance accessibility without replacing human support
AI tools do not make automated decisions about users or collect unnecessary personal data.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We will continue to:
- Conduct regular accessibility audits and reviews
- Address issues identified by users, automated checkers, or our development team
- Update and improve features as standards evolve
- Embed inclusive design principles into all new content and functionality
- Work with people with lived experience to guide improvements
Your feedback plays an important role in helping us make the hub better.
Compatibility
The AICAN Digital Hub is designed to work with modern browsers and widely used assistive technologies.
While we support as many configurations as possible, older browsers or unsupported devices may not deliver the full experience.
